South West Hound Open Show 2015 Critique

I would to thank the South West Hound committee for my appointment; being asked to do a breed at a group specific open show is a real honour for me. I would also like to thank my Steward, Brian Pocock for all his help too. Running an open show alongside a Championship show meant I had an excellent entry of Deerhounds, with real quality throughout. Thank you so much to all those who entered under me, it was an absolute pleasure to judge all these dogs.

Puppy Dog or Bitch (4,1
1 and BPIB Finnett &Heathcotes’ Hyndsight Because the Night– 11month old bitch. A very promising puppy with a shapely outline. Pleasing head and gentle expression. Good length of neck leading onto well laid shoulders. In proportion with her length, her movement was a joy to watch, with plenty of rear drive complimenting a good reach. Also fantastic to hear this bitch went on to win Best Puppy in Show, many more top awards to come I feel.
2 – Adams’ Stranwith Nia for Zandahar TAF –At just 6 months old this puppy didn’t put a foot wrong and was a pleasure to judge. Lovely feminine head with neat ears, excellent shoulders and straightfront. Her reach in profile really impressed me, neat feet and of good substance throughout also. Could have easily won the class if it was not for first place.
3 – Wragg's Neroche Juno

2 – Grimshaws’ Greyflax Domino to Jamalison – Strong dog of good length.Lovely harsh coat.Masculine head and a pleasing dark eye.Good length of neck, straight front and in proportion throughout. Well sprung ribs and well-muscled loin leading to a nicely set rear which aided an excellent drive in profile. Plenty of time for growth in this dog.
